This wasn’t just hip replacement surgery, it was a lifestyle change. I lived with hip pain – and continuous OTC pain relievers – for 18 months before deciding it was time to do something about it. Why did I wait so long? I feared that the surgery would change my lifestyle for the worst, i.e., not being able to be as active as I was (although in constant pain!) before surgery. I could not have been more wrong! Dr. Murray is my kind of surgeon: great patient rapport, explains everything very thoroughly and most of all, upbeat and confident. My recovery from hip replacement surgery was nothing short of miraculous. I was pain-free almost immediately and off pain meds within days following the surgery. His recommendations for conditioning and exercise (no bending at the waist, no twisting at the hips and no crossing legs) and “just walk” were spot on. I followed that regimen religiously and today, seven months later, I am better than I have ever felt. When I need to have my left hip replaced, I won’t hesitate to have Dr. Murray perform the surgery. I trust him without reservation.

Robotic Right Hip ReplacementNine years ago, Dr. Murray replaced my right hip. This procedure was positively life changing, so when I was in desperate need of a left hip replacement, called his office despite having moved to LA. From the first phone call through the entire procedure and recovery, Dr. Murray and his staff, especially Amy, provided competent, efficient and compassionate care every inch of the way. Amy took care of all the paperwork… never allowing me to feel that I was an imposition. My pre-surgery directions were clear and organized…the surgery was swift and a success…my confidence in Dr. Murray’s expertise was validated. The anesthesiologist was sensitive to my concerns, and I was out of the hospital in less than 3 days. I am 2 months post-op, am following Dr. Murray’s encouragement to walk, while respecting the 3 month restrictions. I’m happy to say, I’m walking 1-2 miles a day, have started to climb stairs, and am largely pain free, I would recommend any prospective joint replacement patient to trust Dr. Murray and his staff… my experience has been nothing short of wonderful, and has made a remarkable positive change in my life… it’s great to be able to again walk and embrace an active life.

Robotic Assisted Hip ReplacementWhile most patient testimonials represent more involved procedures than mine, I consider any surgery serious — especially mine! I had a torn meniscus, and it was imperative for me to be back at work standing on my feet every day ASAP! There was no such thing as ‘down time’.
I was scheduled for knee arthroscopy surgery on a Friday. The office staff was wonderful. They took care of all the details for me. All I had to do was show up. Everything went quickly and smoothly. Over the weekend I relaxed and iced. Monday morning I walked into my office without crutches, cane or any help. I had two tiny stitches on my knee. Everyone thought I had cancelled my surgery! It was unbelievable. I walked perfectly and without any pain. I was able to bend my knee 100% to its previous state within 2 weeks. I have never felt so good.
Most important and reassuring is the fact that I have no reservation whatsoever if another surgery is needed that I would be happy to have Dr. Murray perform it. Dr Murray is caring, patient, and a phenomenal surgeon. I was so lucky to have found him.

Knee Scope for Torn MeniscusI suffered for two years with hip pain, I could not even go to the store the last few months before surgery, I was in agony. I was told by my primary Dr. to see Dr. Murray. Well I called him, and two weeks later I saw him. He told me about the surgery, and what to expect. Dr. Murray set up the surgery in two weeks time, and I have never been happier. Things went like he told me they would. From the moment I woke up in the hospital, the pain was gone!! I did have a little at the site of surgery, but nothing compared to before surgery. After coming home, I had no pain, needed no painkillers, used a walker for five days, then a cane for four days. NO PAIN!!! Now six weeks later I am back to normal, I have my life back, thanks to Dr. Murray!

Robotic assisted right hip total arthroplastyI have been a patient of Dr. Murray for more than 25 years. Dr. Murray has performed replacement hip surgery on both my right and left hip (the dates for these surgeries were differentleft hip was originally done in 1997 and the right hip in 2005). These surgeries went extremely well and I was relieved of pain that I had endured. I was quick to recover, get back on my feet and encountered no complications what so ever. I believe this is due to his expertise and fantastic surgical skills. In 2014 Dr. Murray performed a hip revision on the original hip done in 1997. This also went extremely well with no complications. In my opinion, Dr. Murray is one of the finest Orthopedic Surgeons in the business and I trust him completely and without reservation for all my orthopedic needs. I have recommended Dr. Murray to others and will continue to do so.

Right and Left Hip Replacement. Right Hip Revision.Dr. Murray replaced my left hip in July 2008, after I had experienced plenty of pain for over a year. He indicated previously that it was up to me to determine if I wanted the lifestyle improvement. Since this was my first surgery, ever, I was admittedly hesitant to undergo the procedure. Today, I’m most happy that I followed through and have since recommended Dr. Murray to a number of friends and acquaintances.
As a wonderful plus factor to having improved strength and mobility in my left hip I am currently working out in the gym daily and have recently engaged in a weight loss program and dropped 70 pounds. None of this would be possible without the success factor of a new hip!

Left Hip Replacement 2008I consider Dr Murray to be a “miracle man” regarding my knee operation and the results that followed and would suggest that any person with issues please contact him.
I went to see Dr. Murray in early May 2015 to get information regarding issues I’d had with both knees.
His relaxed professionalism made me feel very comfortable discussing the whole replacement process from start to finish, and through the rehabilitation thereafter if I chose to proceed..
On Friday, May 8, 2015 Dr Murray performed a left total knee replacement at Hartford Hospital and I was released the following Monday morning. I was taught how to go up and down stairs on Sunday while in the hospital and was able to sleep upstairs every night at home.. On Wednesday I mowed with my lawn tractor, and was driving my car that weekend.
There was very little actual pain regarding the operation. There was weakness and stiffness in the knee and leg but Home Healthcare Physical Therapist visits for a couple of weeks returned the leg to it’s original “range of motion”, and seven visits to a walk in P/T rehab center was all I that needed.
Since my operation I’ve come in contact with quite a few people that have had Dr Murray for knee and hip replacements, and they’ve all shared similar very positive results.
I will be having my other knee done in the very near future.

Total Left Knee replacementI had my right knee replaced in 2009, my right hip in 2011 and my left knee replaced in 2013. I couldn’t be happier with the result in all three cases and with the medical care and attention I was given by Dr. Murray and his staff. In all three cases, I was out and about after three weeks and back to work in 4 weeks. I continue leading an active life working, vacationing and living pain free thanks to Dr. Murray and his staff! I would recommend this procedure to anyone who is on the fence about it.

2 knee replacements, right hip replacementIn June 2010 Dr Murray did Arthroscopic surgery on my right knee. He said there was lots of arthritis and I would probably need a full knee replacement in 2 years. It lasted 5 years I thought that was pretty good. In the mean time, my left hip began to really cause problems. Hips are congenital in my family. I had Dr. Murray look at it, sure enough it was bone on bone and very painful. In October of 2014 Dr Murray did a complete hip replacement. By January of 2015 after much walking I was hiking in the California Sur, Baja, Mexico!!! But my right knee began to creep back into the picture. April of 2015 I had a complete right knee replacement and it went perfectly. I expect to be hiking in Tuscany, Italy in October. My suggestion to anyone contemplating hip or knee surgery is to follow the instructions to the letter. Do not stop moving before surgery no matter how painful and walk, walk, walk. I will say knees are harder then hips and much more painful but if you keep moving and follow you PT and Dr. Murray’s instructions you will do fine. Dr. Paul Murray is the best.

I would use Dr.Murray again for any other joints.I had my left knee replaced in 2008 by another MD. That went well. As he is no longer doing replacements, when I needed my right knee replaced I went to Dr. Murray. I found him to be attentive and on target. I had that knee replaced in 2014 and a year later find it to be successful. With both knees, I find there are numb areas. but nothing that can’t be dealt with. I have recommended Dr. Murray to a number of people who need joint replacement.

right knee replacementI am 13 days post surgery and feel great. My second knee and this has been a remarkable recovery. Stopped meds six days ago. Going for two week follow up tomorrow.

Total knee replacementI am 31 days post operation and doing great. Knee bend at 119 degrees. Following Dr Murray’s instructions and PT produces positive results. Pain is tolerable and over the counter meds do the trick. A heartfelt thanks to Dr Murray and his staff.

Right Knee ReplacementSo glad I chose Doctor Murray, and so glad I had both of my bad knees replaced at the same time. I just passed the 90 day mark, and while complete healing can take up to a year, my progress has greatly exceeded my expectations. I now walk normally, without any sign that i’ve had both knees replaced. Even the incision scars have greatly diminished. In fact, only Dr. Murray, my family, and airport security know about my new knees.
I have nothing but praise for Dr. Murray, and his entire staff of competent and compassionate professionals. My only regret is that I lived with worn out knees for so long. If only I had done this sooner. Thank you.

Bilateral Total Knee ReplacementsI am 67 years old and 3 months ago I had hip replacement surgery. Two years ago I was having right side lower back pain. That is the way I mentally approached therapy. I had a series of 3 shots in the lower back and none worked. I tried 8 weeks of seeing a chiropractor and 8 visits for accupunture. I had seen a back Doctor a couple of times and decided to have back surgery in June of 2015.That to did not work. In late August of 2015 I saw Dr Murray. After seeing my right hip xray it was obvious I needed the hip surgery. October 12th Dr Murray scheduled the surgery. That afternoon was the only time I used a walker to do PT. I was out and home on Oct.14th. I used a cane to help with my in house Pt and going for a walk. I had a minimal amount of pain. PT lasted 2 weeks and was walking with no cane in 1 month. I currently walk 2 to 4 miles five to six times a week. Before surgery I couldn’t walk without pain to the end of my driveway. My experience with Dr Murray and his office staff have been outstanding. I say that not because of how great I felt but because it was true. Any question I had were answered. I did my homework in choosing Dr Murray from several Hallmarkers who had both the hip and knee surgery. I listened to there feedback and not one of them had a negative comment. If I need any future replacement surgery I know which Doctor I am choosing. Also hopefully as a lesson if you experience lower back pain I would recommend not only looking at the back ask for an xray on your hip.

Left knee replacementIn January of 2016 I had Bi-Lateral Knee Replacement. I’m not a young guy, so apprehensive was a very good term to use for my thoughts. Dr. Murray always was very straightforward with any discussions that we had regarding surgery and recovery.
I made up my mind that I was going to ride my bicycle two months after my surgery and did to the day. It is now approximately five months after my surgery and I am getting ready to ride in the “Tour de Cure”, Diabetes Association ride (50K) this weekend 6/12/16.
There are still days when I am stiff and sore but I still keep on trying to do to much.
Thanks Dr. Murray.

total right knee replacementDr. Murray cleaned my left knee out in 2011 at that time I was very impressed with not only how well it went but how good he was. he explained exactly what he was going to do and did just that. I felt awesome but he did warn that I was going to need knee replacements in 5 years or so. fast forward to 2016 knees had degraded to point that I had very little quality of life. March we met with Dr. Murray and scheduled my first replacement for May my wife having work for an orthopedic practice for 20 years had many questions. he was direct to the point with all of them making her very comfortable. I was very apprehensive but his confidence gave me a sense of encouragement. The first knee went great, day of surgery he spent time to explain everything to my wife and I, we both felt very comfortable. Was home 2 day later and started physical therapy regained motion pretty well and pain was not bad at all. At my post op appointment we scheduled the right knee for later in July. To be honest I what I expected with the second knee was just what the first one was. Day of surgery he met with us joked a bit about being a repeat customer this made me feel totally at ease. He did warn us that every knee replacement was different, boy was he right. I was up and walking day of surgery with very little pain. Second day did the in hospital PT and had incredible motion already. I was awarded the rare blue band that enabled me to walk the hallway with out the assistance of the nurses once I was in the hallway. I did laps twice that day and again early the next morning before being released. The at home PT went well and was sent to outpatient PT a week sooner than first. It has been 6 weeks since the second knee replacement today I completed my PT and received my return to work date. I just want to thank Dr. Murray for giving me my life back. I can actually pedal a bike for the first time in almost 10 years and plan to start hiking again later this fall. I have recommended him to a neighbor and work colleague. Again thank you Dr. Murray.

total knee -left and rightAfter several painful years I met with Doctor Murray who clearly explained to me in detail his recommendations after through exams. I believe the left hip was a normal total replacement and acknowledged in advanced the right hip would be totally different. After a sporting injury, 54 years ago I dislocated hip hip, and the normal treatment back in the 60’s was to place a steel pin in the joint. The right hip surgery took four hours and occurred two years later, I was first amazed at the technical advancements achieved in those two years acknowledging the devotion required to stay on top of the technical advances, plus this had to be a very physically demanding operation., I was young and still growing when the steel was added, with the growth and melding of bone plus steel had to create an incredible surgery. Doctor Murray also preformed a total knee replacement for my wife, she healed in less than three months, and a year later the scare is hardly noticable. I’m rehabbing very nicely, and with the Doctors talents, we can enjoy a more active and complete retirement.

Both hips – total replacementI had been in severe knee pain for many years. I had my first knee replacement surgery 12 years ago. It was performed by another doctor and it was a long process to recovery and also a two week stay in a nursing home. I was hesitant to have my second knee replaced, but due to the pain, I had no choice. I researched different doctors and choose Dr. Murray after several people referred me to him. I was so impressed after my first visit to Dr. Murray’s office. He was easy to talk to, warm, and very professional and informative.
I choose to have Dr. Murray perform my knee surgery using robotic assistance and I recovered at the Hartford Bone and Joint Institute. The staff there was very professional and I left there, for home, within several days. I am now going to physical therapy and on a quick road to recovery. I cannot be more thankful to Dr. Murray and his staff. I have been able to resume my active life, free of knee pain.

knee replacementOn July 5, 2017, Dr. Murray did a complete hip replacement on my left side. The operation was very successful. Since I waited so long I had to learn to walk all over again. I am so glad that I finally got it done, the doctor did an excellent job. I am now in my forth month and I walk up and down stairs like a normal person, I have not been able to do that for over 30 years. I recommend that people do not wait as long as I did. I appreciate everything that was done for me.
Thank you Dr. Paul Murray.

Total Hip ReplacementI am patient with Dr. Paul Murray for more than 15 years and I saw him for my arthritis problems developed during years goes by. My left knee cartilages are totally wear off and my upper and lower bones on the knee were out of alignment since last 2 years and when I stand up left leg was bent at knee. I attended educational class by Dr. Murray in May and came know about Robotic assisted surgery and I decided to have it perform on my left knee. I visited Dr. Murray in June and he explained me in detail about procedure and replacement of total knee.
My surgery was done on August 6th and Dr. Murray did it very successful, my leg is now totally straight and I was home next day. For 2 weeks home health care nurse and physical therapist came my home and after 2 weeks my post op. appointment with Dr. Murray he advised me go out patient physical Therapy. This my 6th week after surgery and I am walking myself with no help of Cane and now driving my car everywhere. My knee is bending 125 degrees without any pain.
I feel very confident in waking and performing normal activities with my knee in very sort period of time so quickly after surgery. Thanks to Dr. Murray for outstanding result on my very bad and broken knee. Dr. Paul Murray is best Orthopedic Surgeon.

Robotic-assisted left total knee arthroplastyAt my church, I attended an adult fellowship program which invites speakers of interest to the “older” members of our congregation. There I learned about hip replacements when Dr. Murray was the guest speaker. I also learned many people at our church had already had a hip or knee repaired by Dr. Murray and were very happy with the results. I decided to get my right hip done since it no longer responded to the cortisone shots I had been having. I was amazed that I could walk the same day as the operation without pain in my right hip for the first time in years. When I saw Dr. Murray for the follow-up appointment at his office, I said I wanted to make an appointment to have my left hip done since the right hip had been so easy. Six months later I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Murray and was just as pleased with the results. I did have pain one day at home so I called the office and Dr. Murray called me later in the day from his home. I was amazed! How many doctors will call you at home if you have a concern? Not many. I highly recommend Dr. Murray for any surgery you may be contemplating.

both hips replacedI have lived a very active life prior to my physical limitations caused by osteoarthritis. I had worked as a carpenter and enjoyed cross country skiing and all manners of physical activity before my affliction. To be honest I was very down and discouraged with regards to my view of the future. My left knee was so severely deformed people wondered how I managed to move at all. I looked forward to my surgery but I had no Idea how beneficial it would be, within hours of my surgery I was standing in my hospital room completely relieved of arthritic pain, yes I felt the surgical pain with the full awareness this pain would pass. The arthritic pain was gone, the left leg was straight I couldn’t wait to have the right done. They are both done it has been four months and I rarely think about my knees at all. What more can I say my life has been completely transformed, thanks to all involved. Sincerely George m Dalton.

Double knee replacement4 ago ago I had both my knees replaced within a 6 week period by Dr Murray. From start to finish I have had only positive experiences. Dr Murray and his staff were excellent. Best thing I could have done for myself. I’m more active and no pain. I bike, i hike, i excercise and i play sports, things i wasnt able to do for 20 years. Love my new knees. Highly recommend! Thanks Dr Murray!

Knee replacementAbout 10 years ago or more I had one knee replaced. Then I realized how bad the other one was. A year later the second one. Fantastic! A new life. Dr. Murray said he could put it in but it depended on me to do the work after. How right he was. The only thing I didn’t like was the nerve block on the second one. I felt I recovered slower cuz of it. That wasn’t his decision though. It was anestegiology. I worked at a medical supply/pharmacy. I asked all the nurses and PT people who I should go to. So glad I did.

2 knee replacementsAbsolutely wonderful experience. The pain vanished immediately. Dr. Murray has performed surgeries on 3 generations of my family. He is an example of what the medical profession should emulate: genuine care for the patient with a bedside manner that puts the concerns of the patient first – we would go nowhere else! The staff were very professional, the arrangements were flawless. A better experience than any five-star vacation reservation!

Total Hip ReplacementWas reluctant due to friends who were not happy with their surgeries at different doctors. Was concerned my knee was too bad and that too many years had gone by from an old football injury. Met with Dr. Murray and scheduled surgery and it is the best decision I have made since proposing to my wife. I feel like I am 25 years old again! I have since referred at least a dozen people to Dr Murray. For best results DO THE POST SURGERY PHYSICAL THERAPY. The right doctor IS IMPORTANT!!! Don’t just go to who is closer in proximity… that is just dumb.

Full Knee Replacement – LeftSurgery 12/19/2019 today is Saturday and I am in very little pain and walking unassisted. This was a redo of a 16 year old knee. Paul is absolutely the very best in CT. The trip from Niantic was more than worth it. Starting outpatient PT Tuesday. Cut my meds down today and can’t wait for PT. Thank you Paul and the whole staff at CJRI at St Francis.

R TKR second timeDr. Murray is probably the most professional and compassionate surgeon I have had the pleasure of meeting. I have entrusted my life in his hands. Anyone writing anything negative probably has personal problems with unjustified remarks. If you want a surgeon who cares about your well being he is the man to see. I never thought I could trust a surgeon but he will take it to the next level to find a solution to your problem. I am a totally satisfied patient who will probably need another knee replacement in several years. You know who will be doing the surgery, Respectfully, Hal

Two Hip Replacements, Total KneeOne of the luckiest days of my life was when I had my initial consult with Dr. Murray! I met with (3) other Doctors previously beforehand and none of them inspired the confidence that Dr. Murray had. He took one look at me and said, I can fix you! That ended up being an understatement – the joint replacement procedure went extremely well and I was back on the Racquetball Court better than ever before. Thank you Dr. Murray – you are the best!

Double Knee ReplacementOn June 16, 2021 I had my left knee replaced by Dr Murray. I remember during my 1st visit he told me “The first month you’re going to hate me. The second month you’re going to think its not so bad. By the third month you’re going to say I wish I did it sooner.”
Today, I am 15 days post op and I can already say I wish I did this sooner.
I had my follow up appt today and I met with Alex, the PA, and he was very happy with my healing & progress. I no longer require a walker and only use a cane if I leave the house or feel unsteady from the meds.
I also have been weening off the narcotic pain meds since day 6 and has now been 3 full days without it. And down to 2 muscle relaxers per day.
I can’t speak highly enough about Dr Murray & his entire team. He is an amazing surgeon and I do not “hate him” during my first month post-op (LOL).
The office staff is just as amazing as he is. So friendly, professional and have been there to answer any question I’ve had.
They deserve the highest recognition & recommendations I can possibly give.
Thank you for changing my life!

Left knee replacementWhat a great office and wonderful compassionate group of people, Cheryl, Amy, Tanya, are just a few of the ladies in the office who are truly concerned about you as an individual. They take care of you from pre-op to post-op and believe me, you are in wonderful hands. Alex, the PA is on top of everything. Dr. Murray is a gifted surgeon and have the confidence in him as an individual and patient. He truly is concerned about your well being and the best outcome for you. Do yourself a favor and see him before surgery. I can’t say enough about this practice and hopefully you will take my advice and experience a professional atmosphere. Dr. Murray has done a revision of my left knee, my two hips, and just completed my right knee a month ago.

Great OfficeI had progressive severe arthritis of both knees for 20 years resulting in major deformity and mostly wheelchair use for the last three years.
I had consults with several orthopedists but did not have confidence that they could handle my severe disease. On my first visit to Dr. Murray he exuded confidence that he could straighten both legs and I felt that he had the experience and ability to accomplish this.
I had my Right knee done in early April with correction of an almost 30 degree deformity to perfectly straight and the left knee done in late June with similar good results.
I am only four months out from the original surgery and am out of the wheelchair and using a walker and having physical therapy. Today I walked half a mile with no difficulty. I had put off surgery for 15 years and got worse and worse. I am so happy that I finally chose to go through with it and my life has already greatly improved.I still need to gain back strength and balance and am on the way.My pain level has greatly improved.
Dr. Murray has been able to produce the results that he had hoped for on my initial visit.
It was great working with Dr. Murray and his office staff and the care at Hartford Hospital’s Bone and Joint institute was wonderful.

Total Knee ReplacemenMy search for a fantastic orthopedist involved weeks of online reading and talking with people who had had hip replacement surgery. friends suggested Dr. Murray. Now when asked about my surgery I share his name because he, his office staff, the surgical team and the staff of Hartford Hospital made this life changing event seamless. Dr. Murray glows with confidence and love of his work. His positive attitude and support convinced me that my surgery and recovery would be extremely successful. I felt very prepared for my surgery because Dr. Murray took the time to explain every detail. I also found the pre surgery class real helpful. The day after my surgery I was walking in the hospital taking only Tylenol, I had that little pain. I went home and worked with a physical therapist in my home for the first month. Now three months out I am walking greater distances and with no pain. It seems that every couple of weeks I recover more flexibility so as the months pass I look forward to moving and being active with greater agility. It is wonderful to “walk and walk” with no pain just the great feeling of movement.
Thank you Dr. Murray. I love my new hips!!!

Bilateral Robotic Hip ReplacementAfter almost 6 years of chronic right hip pain with lots of OTC medications I heard about Dr. Murray. I was thrilled that Dr. Murray agreed to do my right hip replacement. I was nervous, however Amy, Dr. Murrays assistant couldn’t have been nicer. Dr. Murray was pleasant, and upbeat along with showing me my x-ray we discussed my options. My quality of live had been so poor that I knew I needed help. I knew exactly what to expect, along with the surgery there were a few things that I could not do after the surgery. Those items were, no twisting, don’t cross your legs and no bending and walk walk walk after the surgery. I was pain free right after the surgery and was thrilled that I was in and out of the hospital in three days. I had my right hip replaced in October 2015. Not to be overlooked was the pain I was also feeling in my left hip. I feel like a new person now that I have had the left hip replaced as of May 2016. Dr. Murray is the BEST! I can’t say enough about him. Would I recommend him to my friends, I certainly would. Thank you Thank you Thank you Dr. Murray and Amy too.

right hip replacement 10/12/15 left hip replacement 5/16/16Dr. Murray replaced my right hip in 2009, my left knee in 2012 and my left hip in 2015 (using robotic surgery) and I have never felt better!
Dr. Murray was recommended to me by my chiropractor when I thought I was having back pain and it turned out to be my right hip. I would not consider using any oter surgeon for joint replacement surgery; Dr. Murray is a caring and dedicated professional.
I have several co-workers who have had joints replaced by Dr. Murray who love him as much as I do and some friends who I have referred to him as well.
If you need joint replacement, contact Dr. Murray’s office – it will be a great experience from the office staff, to the surgery, to the after care!

Right & Left Hip; Left KneeI am a 68 year old male who had heart bypass surgery in 2003. On Monday, November 17, 2015, I had a medial right knee compartment surgery at Hartford Hospital by Dr. Paul Murray and the surgical staff. On Wednesday,Nov. 19, 2015 I returned home after surgery without the aid of a walker or cane. I had 4 sessions of in home Physical Therapy provided by a homecare agency. I returned to work 10 days after the surgery. My profession requires me to walking, bending and standing for extended periods of time. I was able to complete my work with little discomfort. I completed my recovery by driving to Florida and missed the all the cold and snow in Connecticut this winter. I walked an average of 4 to 6 miles a day in the sunshine state to strengthen my muscles and connective tissue around my new knee. Recently, I went salmon fishing in New Brunswick, Canada for a week standing in a boat for 7 hours a day, fly fishing without any problems. Dr. Murray’s staff went out of their way to complete the arrangements for the surgery on very short notice. I can say “WOW” with the results of the surgery Dr. Murray performed. The Makoplasty Technology used by Dr. Murray shows his intuitive ability to achieve excellent results. I strongly recommend Dr. Paul Murray to anyone who needs orthopedic surgery for knees and hips. Gratefully yours, Dick S.

Right Knee Medial ReplacementDr. Murray replaced my left hip about eight years ago. My hip was badly riddled with arthritis. I lived with the pain for a few years and then realized that if I wanted to continue to play tennis and golf, Dr. Murray was recommended to me by a friend. I met with him and I felt very much at ease and confident with him. The surgery and rehab went very smoothly, and I was playing my sports before I knew it. Every follow-up appointment ended with Doc saying, ” It looks like the day I put it in!” It has been incredible! I have not had a single problem with it. At my age I wish all my joints worked and felt as good as my left hip.
Since my surgery I have recommended Doc to many friends. One had his surgery, and one had his surgery shortly after mine, and we see each other all the time and always praise Dr. Murray. THANKS, DOC!

left hip replacementIt has been 10 years since my surgery – the X-rays show perfection. Before surgery, I had absolutely no cartilage between the bones in my left knee. I experienced super pain when walking. During my initial visit with Dr. Murray, I felt sure that I was in the the hands of the best. I attended the pre-surgery class and found that my 27 years of mowing my hilly lawn was the best preparation for the strength in my legs. The surgery went smoothly and I was out of bed once he removed that special bandage. I attended the rehab sessions and was surprised at the ease with which I was walking, albeit with a walker. At home after day four, I walked as much as I could and drove within six days – I had a standard transmission which Dr. Murray said was the best exercise for my left knee. I took him at his word. I was feeling great, with just a little thing going on in my knee, and, I was driving. I went back to work after three weeks. I walked every hour and drove to rehab after work. I flew to St. Louis on a business trip at week four, continuing to walk as much as I could. Many of my friends have had Dr. Murray’s implant, some with two knees at a time. Dr. Murray gave us our knees back, which relieved the pain in walking and bending. Of course, I shocked him when I told him that I went tandem sky-diving and just learned how to drive an ATV. I’ll be seeing him in two years. I like to see the X-rays.

bilateral knee replacement 2007,right hip total replacement 2010 left hip total replacement 2014I had my left hip replacement done in February 2015, from our first consultation to the last visit the entire staff made me feel very comfortable and relaxed about the procedure, I was educated on all aspects of the procedure and every question I had or my family had was answered as I was the first to be operated on by robotics. I would highly recommend Dr Murray and his staff to anyone needing joint replacement.

Hip ReplacementI first came to Dr. Murray in the Spring of 2006. Problems with my left knee necessitated having two arthroscopic surgeries in 2003, a partial knee replacement in March of 2005, and a total replacement of the same knee three months later. All of these procedures were performed by other orthopaedic surgeons, and all of the procedures were failures. Dr. Murray was recommended to me by another one of his patients, and in May of 2006 a revision of the left knee was performed after a complete consultation and explanation of the operation. Because of the damage within my knee the surgery was followed by a vigorous rehab at Mt. Sinai. Upon release from the in-house rehab I continued in physical therapy and I regained nearly all of my normal range of motion. Regular follow up visits have shown the continued success of the procedure.
In September of 2014, Dr. Murray performed another surgery on me. This time it was to repair a torn rotor cuff in my right shoulder. After the surgery, a lengthy recuperation, and another intense regimen of physical therapy, my shoulder is back to where it was prior to the surgery.
I am glad that Dr. Murray was recommended to me,and especially in the first case, I am thrilled that he was able to rectify the problems that were readily apparent after the first two failed procedures. The overall atmosphere of his office and staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. They truly care for the well being of the patient and do everything possible to ease the fears and consternation’s of their patients and families. I have recommended Dr. Murray to many others and I shall continue to utilize his talents should the need arise in the future.

5/25/06 revision left total knee arthroplasty, 3/06 arthriscopy of right knee, 9/16/14 rotator cuff repair right shoulderEight weeks post op and feeling great. No Meds now for over six weeks. Walking, gym, and biking. Finish PT this coming week. Knee is dramatically better than before operation. Dr Murrary and his staff are the best. Looking forward to playing golf soon, as soon as Dr gives me the ok. Strongly recommend Paul Murrary.

Right Knee ReplacementIn April of ’07 I had a full knee replacement. Four weeks later, I was playing golf! I attribute the success to several things,………
Dr. Murray’s expertise, being in good physical shape, and not carrying excess weight prior to surgery. Why did this help? Since physical therapy is an important element after surgery, I was able to push exercising without overdoing it. I was very pleased with the efficiency and care of all of the staff I interacted with.
In November of ’15, I needed to take care of the other deteriorated knee. Dr. Murray said I was a good candidate for half knee replacement with the new Robotic Assisted surgery. He said that procedure could do it five times better than he could. I found that hard to believe since I was so pleased with the full knee replacement years back. Post surgery X-rays indicated a “perfect fit”. NO MORE PAIN! The procedure is less invasive, with maybe quicker recovery time. I was playing Pickle Ball in four weeks. Again, all the care, direction and follow-up with the staff was top shelf. Thank you!

Full knee replacement then half knee robotic assisted surgeryIn April 2016, Dr. Murray replaced my left knee and five years earlier, he had replaced my right knee. Both operations meant the original pain that limited my walking and in general my enjoying so many activities was gone from the moment I awoke from the surgery. The recovery and rehab from both surgeries was just as had been explained. By
two months from the date of each surgery, I was enjoying walking, gardening, going to the gym and had begun to think of planning future trips. None of these things would have been possible if I had not had the surgeries.
Before my first replacement, I attended a workshop session given by Dr. Murray and heard an overview of the process and listened as he answered general questions from the attendees. For me this was a very helpful session as it gave me a chance to get a feel for who Dr. Murray was while learning about knee replacements.
Dr. Murray and his staff have always been easy to deal with and have answered my questions and concerns with patience and respect. I having nothing but praise and gratitude for him and the work he does.

Two Total Knee ReplacementsPlaying golf 5 weeks after left knee and 4 weeks after right hip! ( He will have a heart attack if he reads this) I had a very complicated knee replacement due to a prior failed partial replacement!! All is well 6 years later.

Left Knee 2010, Robotic assist Right Hip 2016I waited for over 20 years to replace the second hip after my first replacement at the age of 45. The first one was a success but many issues followed both medical and persona. When I no longer could stand the pain I decided to have the hip replaced ; the original surgeon had retired so I began a search for a new one. There was a significant weight gain since the first surgery and I was turned down by several surgeons simply because of my increased weight. It was quite frustrating. I felt like a hamster spinning on a wheel. I needed to loose weight to have the surgery but couldn’t exercise to loose the 50# to have the surgery because of the pain and deterioration of the hip. I just about gave up! My PCP recommended I see Dr. Murray he said that he took his tough cases so off I went to Dr. Murray waiting to be turned down yet again. Well to my surprise I left the office in tears with an appointment to have my surgery. I couldn’t believe my ears when he said he would do the surgery. I walk now with a cane and no pain!!! I am so thankful for Dr. Murray for giving me a chance to live without hip pain. To me it is truly a miracle

Total right hip replacementMy initial visit with Dr. Paul Murray was very informative and reassuring. My surgery went exactly as was explained and my hospital stay was comfortable and brief. The follow up office visit was thorough and any questions I had were answered. My wife and I know we made a very good choice having Dr. Murray perform my surgery and when people ask who my Dr. was I proudly tell them Dr. Paul B. Murray

robotic-assisted left total hip replacement12/8/16 Dr. Murray performed my dual total knee replacements. In 4 days I was released from the hospital to home and within 4 weeks I was walking without crutches. I currently have a 122 degree bend in both knees which is remarkable. Although a full recovery is not a quick process it will allow me to have my quality of life back.
From the initial visit with Dr. Murray and his team in the office, to meeting Dr. Murray’s OR team before the operation, I consistently felt they had my best interests in mind. They had my full trust as professionals ! After surgery any questions or concerns I had were handled promptly and followed up if needed. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Murray to anyone thinking about robotic knee replacements.

robotic assisted bilateral total knee replacementsDr Murray, and his team, performed total knee replacements for me in May and July of this year. I’m very pleased with the results! No more arthritis pain and mobility limitations!
He made the decision to have the successive surgeries very easy. The process, from consultation to surgery and follow up care, is very professional and compassionate.
Thank you!

Knee Replacements 2017Dr. Murray is the BEST!!! After our follow-up meeting, I returned to swimming and am soooo thankful for all he and his wonderful staff have done for my health. I’d been at the doggie park with our little Beagle, and foolishly stood away from the fence and seats. Two huge German Shepherds raced through the park, my left knee, and didn’t slow down. I would have gone flying, but two friends caught me as I was lifted into the air. Lots of pain followed. Once Dr. Murray repaired the damage (he’d repaired my right knee a while before this) and I followed the regimen of icing the knees, I was off pain meds a few days later for each knee. God Bless Dr. Murray and his wonderful staff!

left knee: torn ligaments, meniscus repaired, arthritis removedWhen I went for my first visit to Dr.Murray, I was very nervous, until the Dr. walked in. After speaking with him ,I was very confident and ready to go foward. Dr. Murray listens to all of your concerns, and addresses each and every one of them , before, during and after surgery. I am more than pleased with my results, and totally recommend he and his staff, to all. I have more mobility now than I ever had, and it gets better daily. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Murray and his staff, amazing, can’t say enough.

Left and Right robotic-assisted total hip arthroplastyThe office staff is great.
Dr Murray is the best Doctor I’ve ever had. He is sweet, calm, and answers any questions you have. I was very nervous & he calms me down just by talking to me. I keep recommending him to anyone who needs knee or hip
Surgery. Thank You all, Its deeply appreciated.

Robotic full right knee replacemenIn 2014, I was having so many problems with my left knee that I started searching for a surgeon. On the advice of my friends and co-workers, I made an appointment with a surgeon who was recommended as the “best.” I made the appointment, which was scheduled. However, in the meantime, a friend called to ask me whether I saw Dr. Murray’s write-up in the Sunday’s Hartford Courant. I saw it and called his office on Monday. I had an appointment for Tuesday! When meeting with Dr. Murray, I asked a thousand questions – even had a list. He suggested that I first listen to him and if I had any other questions, ask them afterward. I had two more. I felt that my Mom in heaven interceded. I was hooked. I cancelled my other surgery and had Dr. Murray do to me what he does best.
Right after surgery at St. Francis Hospital, I was doing stairs and walking everywhere. The day after I went home, I drove my “standard” shift red VW convertible.Dr. Murray said that the clutch was the best exercise for my left knee. What I heard him say,”You can drive any time!” I was back at work in three weeks, flew off on a business trip to St. Louis in four weeks, drove myself (after work) to rehab for several weeks and was a happy camper.
When I fell at home in November 2017 (my right knee collapsed), I was back with Dr. Murray for robotic surgery at Hartford Hospital. I wanted to watch – that wasn’t allowed. My right thigh has two little robot scars. I knew that I was in the best hands. I did my own physical therapy, which included using a rocking chair (as Dr. Murray suggested,) drove my red Honda Fit within two weeks and was walking and doing stairs quickly. I talk about my positive experiences all the time. For me, Dr. Murray is the best. And, the important thing to remember is, do the exercises religiously. You will come out a winner.

knee replacement surgeryI was satisfied every phase of both surgeries. All the professionals from pre-op to discharge were efficient and caring. Most importantly, the results made my decision a wise one.

bilateral knee and hip replacementsLast year, at this time, I was getting pressure from my family to get my knee looked at. I had an old sports injury where I tore my ACL. Over time my knee got worse and the pain escalated and it actually started to bow outward like I had a deformity. My son worked for Stryker and did some research as to the best doctors in the tri-state area and he gave me the name of Dr. Paul B. Murray. I went to the initial consultation just to satisfy my family who were pressuring me. By the end of the consultation, I signed the consent form before leaving and began making plans with work to go for surgery. Dr. Murray’s explanation of the process and what I could expect gave me the confidence to proceed.
On May 1st, I had a total knee replacement performed by Dr. Murray and I cannot thank him enough for changing my life. Nine months later,I am completely pain-free, with total mobility and I can no longer even see the scar. Dr Murray is BY FAR – the top doctor in his profession. If you are in pain and tired of your situation – make an appointment right now! Don’t wait… don’t suffer any more. The RIGHT doctor with the RIGHT training and techniques matter!!! He has the experience we all hope for and the his demeanor is so refreshing. Don’t worry where you live or if you have to drive a little farther – GET THE RIGHT DOCTOR and that is Dr. Paul B. Murray of (Hip Knee Sports) Murray Joint Replacement Surgery!!! I am so grateful to my son for recommending him and to Dr Murray for what he has done for me. Walter Krauchick Guilford, CT

robotic-assisted left knee replacementI was having left hip pain for about two years. I researched many orthopedic surgeons and chose Dr. Paul Murray.
From our first visit I knew I had made the right choice. Dr. Murray is extremely professional; and scheduled my surgery in a timely manner.
He explained the total procedure to my wife and I, the amount of time it would take, the recovery and therapy that I would be doing as well as the post-op precautions. I had my surgery on April 29th at CJRC at St. Francis hospital. I was up and walking that night, fairly pain free.
Dr. Murray came in the first thing the next morning to check on me. I had a good night sleep (first in a few yrs). When I walked the unit two more times that morning I was discharged home. I have been 99% pain free since my surgery. After following my post-op precautions as instructed by Dr. Murray, I am now able to walk, climb stairs, sleep, ride in a car for long distances all pain free. The only thing I would like to have changed is that Dr. Murray called my wife after the surgery instead of seeing her personally. I highly recommend Dr. Murray. He improved my life.

Left hip replacementSo I know of many people who have had hip and knee replacements. Some have very good results and some do not. The right doctor matters!!! I saw what Dr Murray did for my husband with his knee replacement so several months later I had Dr Murray replace my hip. If you don’t go to Dr Murray you are just rolling the dice and hoping for the best. Be good to yourself and see Dr Murray. Just as important after surgery – do the work to rehab and you will reap the benefits.

Hip replacementSaw Dr 1/3 two weeks after replacement. No meds, drove myself and bending 109 degrees. Dr Murray has done excellent work beyond my expectations. A replacement is more work than the first time and this recovery has been terrific. PT is painfull but results are worth it. Will be playing golf in CA this March. Thanks Doc

Redo 16 year old TKRI was very apprehensive about getting this procedure done and had put it off. I had my surgery on August 26, 2020 and immediately began PT at home. I went from my walker to a cane in 7 days. I was driving within 3 weeks and and went back to work on the 4th week. I am now in outpatient therapy completing most movements freely. Swelling is subsiding daily. I am so relieved that I went to Dr. Murray for my procedure and would highly recommend Dr. Murray. Amy in Dr. Murray’s office was so helpful and encouraging to me which was really appreciated as well as other staff that called to check on me and make sure I was ok with my medication in which Tylenol has been the only one I needed. As you can read I am very happy with my procedure and Dr. Murray.

Replacement of Right KneeFor six years I suffered with severe knee pain due to very degenerative arthritis. I had to reach loss weight goals before I was able to get the surgery. My own primary physician was a bit dismissive of the situation. I had to find my own orthopedic surgeon to perform the surgery. Through recommendation from a close friend, who had previous experience with total knee replacement, I found Dr. Paul Murray with Trinity Health Care. From the first consultation visit and moving forward through the surgery with the hospital, it was a smooth journey. Everything was right on point and the care from the staff was wonderful. Now I am receiving home care for physical therapy for a while and will continue with the followups. Along with being a very skilled and experienced surgeon, Dr. Murray is very personable and caring. Would recommend.

Total Knee ReplacementI’ve had knee surgery at Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii,Cleveland Clinic ,and I can truthfully say Dr Murray is the best for knees, his compassion and understanding is beyond reproach,I just hope he doesn’t decide to retire in the near future
